forestock
Forward rifle grip
The forestock is the front portion of a gun's stock—the wooden or synthetic part that extends beneath and supports the barrel.
It provides a grip for the non-trigger hand and protects the shooter from a hot barrel: He steadied his aim by bracing the forestock against a fence post.
Also called a forend or forearm.
