food comas
Turkey dinner aftermath
A food coma is the drowsy, sluggish state that follows a large meal, when digestion seems to demand all available energy and leave none for activity or alertness.
The term playfully applies medical language to a familiar experience: I ate so much Thanksgiving dinner I slipped into a food coma on the couch.
Though not an actual coma, the heaviness and mental fog can feel nearly that profound.
