floor slab
Building's ground layer
A floor slab is a flat, horizontal structural element forming a building's floor, typically made of reinforced concrete poured as a single continuous piece.
In construction contexts, floor slabs rest on foundations or beams and provide the walking surface for each level: The contractor poured the floor slab yesterday.
Ground-level slabs are sometimes called slab-on-grade.
