floor insulation

Under-floor thermal barrier

Floor insulation is material installed beneath flooring to reduce heat loss, dampen sound, or block moisture.

Common materials include fiberglass batts, rigid foam boards, and spray foam, fitted between floor joists or under subfloors.

In homes with unheated basements or crawl spaces, floor insulation keeps living areas warmer: We added floor insulation to stop the cold from seeping up.
