flaks
Corporate spin doctors
Flaks is the plural of flak, which has two main meanings.
Originally, flak was antiaircraft fire—bursting shells meant to destroy enemy planes: The bomber took heavy flaks over the city.
From this comes the figurative sense of harsh criticism or opposition: She caught flaks from all sides for her decision.
A flak is also a publicist or press agent, someone who deflects criticism on behalf of clients.
