fishfly

Dobsonfly's smaller cousin

A fishfly is a large, soft-bodied insect with long antennae and broad wings, found near freshwater.

Related to dobsonflies but smaller and less fierce-looking, fishflies are nocturnal and often swarm around lights near lakes and rivers in summer.

The aquatic larvae live underwater for years before emerging as short-lived adults.

Fishflies covered every surface near the marina.
