finks

Rats among us

Finks is the plural of fink, a person who informs on others or betrays a group—especially someone who reports to authorities or crosses a picket line during a strike.

The word carries strong disapproval: Those finks told management about the union meeting.

To fink is to inform; to fink out is to back out of a commitment.
