file explorer
Directory navigation software
A file explorer is software for navigating a computer's file system, displaying folders and files in a visual interface.
Users browse directories, move files, rename items, and manage storage.
On Windows, the default is called File Explorer (formerly Windows Explorer); on Mac, Finder serves the same purpose: I opened the file explorer to find where I saved that document.
