field unit
Operational ground group
A field unit is a mobile or deployed component of a larger organization, typically operating away from headquarters or a central base.
The term appears most often in military contexts, where field units conduct operations in active theaters, but also applies to research teams, medical crews, or service personnel working at remote locations.
The field unit reported back to command after completing reconnaissance.
Field units are generally self-sufficient and equipped to function independently for extended periods.
