feel for
Share another's pain
Feel for has two distinct meanings.
To feel for someone is to sympathize with them: I really feel for her after everything she's been through.
To feel for something is to search by touch rather than sight: He felt for the light switch in the dark.
The first suggests emotional connection, the second physical groping.
