false dilemma

Only two options

A false dilemma is a logical fallacy that presents only two options as if they were the only possibilities, when in fact other alternatives exist.

It's a rhetorical technique that forces an artificial either/or choice: You're either with us or against us.

The false dilemma oversimplifies complex situations and is common in political discourse, advertising, and everyday arguments where nuance would undermine a speaker's point.

Also called a false dichotomy or black-and-white thinking.
