executive committees
Governing decision bodies
Executive committees are small groups within larger organizations empowered to make decisions on behalf of the whole body.
A board of directors might delegate day-to-day authority to an executive committee that can act between full board meetings.
The arrangement allows faster decision-making while concentrating power among senior members: The executive committee approved the merger before bringing it to the full board.
