entrance wound
Where projectile penetrates
An entrance wound is the hole where a projectile—typically a bullet—enters the body.
In forensic contexts, entrance wounds are distinguished from exit wounds by their characteristics: entrance wounds tend to be smaller and more regular, while exit wounds are often larger and more ragged.
The medical examiner identified two entrance wounds in the victim's chest.
