enterocoely
Coelom from archenteron
Enterocoely is the formation of a body cavity (coelom) from pouches that bud off the embryonic gut.
This developmental process characterizes deuterostomes—animals like sea urchins, starfish, and vertebrates—distinguishing them from protostomes, where the body cavity forms differently.
In enterocoely, the mesoderm originates as outpocketings of the archenteron.
