engine cooling

Preventing motor overheating

Engine cooling is the process of dissipating heat from an internal combustion engine to prevent overheating and damage.

Most automotive engines use liquid cooling systems that circulate coolant through passages in the engine block, then through a radiator where air carries the heat away.

Air-cooled engines, common in motorcycles and older vehicles, use fins and airflow instead.

The mechanic diagnosed an engine cooling problem when the temperature gauge kept spiking.
