end papers
Cover-to-text bridges
End papers are the sheets of paper at the very beginning and end of a hardcover book, one half pasted to the inside of the cover, the other half forming the first or last page.
They serve both structural and decorative purposes, often featuring colored or patterned designs: The antique volume had marbled end papers.
