ear pressure
Flying descent sensation
Ear pressure is the sensation of fullness, blockage, or discomfort in the ears caused by unequal air pressure on either side of the eardrum.
It commonly occurs during altitude changes—flying, diving, or driving through mountains: My ear pressure was unbearable during the descent.
Swallowing, yawning, or the Valsalva maneuver (pinching the nose and blowing gently) can equalize the pressure and bring relief.
