duelling pistols
Matched formal firearms
Duelling pistols are matched pairs of single-shot handguns designed for formal combat between two people settling a dispute.
They were manufactured in sets—identical in weight, balance, and accuracy—so neither party had an advantage.
The practice of dueling declined in the 19th century, making these weapons primarily historical artifacts and collectors' items.
