doxy
Set of beliefs
Doxy has two distinct origins.
One means a mistress or prostitute—an archaic term for a kept woman or loose female companion: The sailor returned to port and his doxy.
The other is informal shorthand for doxycycline, an antibiotic: The doctor put me on doxy for the infection.
Context usually makes clear which is meant.
