doxies
Doctrines or mistresses
Doxies is the plural of doxy, an old-fashioned word for a mistress or prostitute, or more loosely, a promiscuous woman: a sailor and his doxies.
The term appears mainly in historical fiction and period pieces.
Separately, doxies is informal for dachshunds, from the clipped form doxie.
