double-pane windows
Two-layer glass panels
Double-pane windows have two layers of glass with a sealed air gap between them, providing better insulation than single-pane windows.
The trapped air—or sometimes argon gas—reduces heat transfer, keeping buildings warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Also called double-glazed windows: We replaced the old single-pane windows with double-pane to cut our heating bills.
