double-knit
Two-layer textile technique
Double-knit describes a fabric made by knitting two layers simultaneously, interlocking them into a single thick, stable material.
The technique produces stretch-resistant cloth that holds its shape well: a double-knit polyester suit.
Double-knit fabrics were especially popular in the 1970s for leisure suits and other casual wear.
