docusoap
Serialized reality television
A docusoap is a television series that follows real people in their daily lives or workplaces, blending documentary filming with soap-opera narrative techniques.
Unlike traditional documentaries, docusoaps emphasize ongoing personal drama and character development across episodes: The docusoap followed staff at a struggling veterinary clinic.
The format emerged in British television in the 1990s.
