district schools
Neighborhood public education
District schools are public schools operated and funded by a local school district, the governmental unit responsible for education within a geographic area.
The term often appears in contrast to charter schools, private schools, or magnet schools: Many families prefer district schools because they're in the neighborhood.
Also called traditional public schools.
