disowns

Cuts ties officially

Disowns is the act of rejecting association with someone or something, typically a family member or one's own past actions.

A parent who disowns a child cuts off the relationship entirely, often removing them from inheritance: Her father disowns her for marrying outside the faith.

One can also disown statements, beliefs, or earlier versions of oneself: He disowns his youthful radicalism.
