Discombobulation is a state of confusion or disorientation—being thrown off balance mentally.
The word sounds playful and slightly absurd, which suits its use for befuddlement that isn't too serious: The time zone change left me in complete discombobulation.
It's the noun form of discombobulate, itself a fanciful 19th-century American coinage.
