diploma mill
Fake degree vendor
A diploma mill is an institution that awards degrees with minimal academic requirements, essentially selling credentials rather than education.
The term is derisive, implying the degrees have little value: He got his PhD from some diploma mill.
Such operations may be technically legal but are not accredited by recognized bodies.
Also called a degree mill.
