deglosser
Prep before painting
A deglosser is a chemical solution that dulls shiny surfaces to help paint adhere without sanding.
Applied to glossy finishes on wood, metal, or laminate, it removes the slick layer that would otherwise cause new paint to peel: Wipe down the cabinets with deglosser before priming.
Also called liquid sandpaper.
