default options
Out-of-box configuration
Default options are the preset choices a system uses when you don't specify otherwise.
Software, devices, and services come with defaults already selected—you can change them, but most people don't bother.
This passivity makes defaults powerful: The default options favor the company, not the user.
Designers exploit this through "dark patterns" that make beneficial changes hard to find.
