debeak
Remove bird's bill
To debeak is to remove part of a bird's beak, typically done to chickens and turkeys in commercial farming to prevent them from pecking and injuring each other in crowded conditions.
The procedure, also called beak trimming, is controversial among animal welfare advocates: The hatchery debeaks chicks at one day old.
