dayside
Sun-facing planetary half
Dayside refers to the half of a planet or moon facing the sun at any given moment, as opposed to the nightside.
In journalism, dayside means the regular business-hours shift at a news organization, typically covering breaking news and daily stories: She worked dayside for three years before moving to the evening desk.
The term contrasts with nightside, the overnight shift.
