dark comedy
Morbidly funny genre
Dark comedy is humor that treats grim or taboo subjects—death, violence, suffering, despair—with levity or absurdity.
The comedy doesn't soften the darkness; it draws from it: Dr. Strangelove is a dark comedy about nuclear annihilation.
Also called black comedy or gallows humor.
The genre suggests that laughing at terrible things is one way to face them.
