daily values
Recommended intake percentages
Daily values are the reference amounts of nutrients recommended for daily intake, typically expressed as percentages on food labels.
When a cereal box says it provides "25% of your daily value of iron," it means one serving supplies a quarter of what health authorities recommend you consume each day.
The standard is based on a 2,000-calorie diet.
