cyclo

Pedal-powered Asian taxi

Cyclo is a three-wheeled passenger vehicle powered by a driver who pedals from behind, common in Southeast Asian cities like Saigon and Phnom Penh: We hired a cyclo to take us through the old quarter.

The word comes from the French *cyclo-pousse*, a pedal-powered rickshaw.

Cyclo also serves as a combining form meaning cycle or circular, as in *cyclone* or *cyclopropane*.
