Finger skin fussing
Cuticle picking is the habit of pulling, tearing, or biting at the skin around the fingernails.
It ranges from occasional nervous fidgeting to a compulsive behavior that causes bleeding or infection.
The clinical term is onychophagia when it includes nail biting, or excoriation when the picking becomes repetitive and damaging: I didn't realize I was cuticle picking until my fingers started bleeding.
