cup tie
Trophy elimination game
A cup tie is a match in a knockout tournament, particularly in British football (soccer), where teams compete in cup competitions like the FA Cup or League Cup.
Unlike league matches where teams play home and away over a season, a cup tie is typically a single elimination game—lose and you're out of the competition.

Some cup ties involve two-legged encounters where aggregate scores determine advancement.
