creolisation
Languages mixing together
Creolisation is the blending of different cultures, languages, or traditions into something new and distinct.
The term comes from the development of creole languages—pidgins that became native tongues—but extends to any cultural mixing: the creolisation of Caribbean cuisine, musical creolisation in New Orleans.
Also spelled creolization.
