court supervision
Judicial monitoring program
Court supervision is a legal arrangement where someone convicted of a minor offense avoids jail by meeting conditions set by the court—regular check-ins, community service, drug testing, or staying out of trouble for a specified period.
If completed successfully, charges may be dismissed or reduced: She got court supervision for the DUI instead of jail time.
The term overlaps with probation but often applies to less serious offenses.
