Offensive response to attack
Counterstriking is responding to an attack with an attack of your own, typically timed to land while the opponent is still committed to their offensive move.
The term appears most often in combat sports and fighting games, where a well-timed counterstrike exploits an opponent's vulnerability: He caught her counterstriking every time she overextended.
