cortados

Espresso with milk

A cortado is an espresso drink cut with a small amount of warm milk to reduce its acidity and intensity.

The milk is typically steamed but with little foam, creating a smooth, balanced coffee that's stronger than a latte but mellower than straight espresso.

Popular in Spanish-speaking countries and specialty coffee shops: I'll have a cortado instead of an Americano.
