coronavirus party
Intentional infection event
A coronavirus party is a social gathering held during the COVID-19 pandemic in defiance of public health guidelines, or—in more extreme cases—specifically to spread the virus among attendees.
Early pandemic reports described young people hosting parties to intentionally contract COVID-19, though some accounts were exaggerated or unverified.
More broadly, the term describes any large social event flouting pandemic restrictions: They threw a coronavirus party while the rest of us stayed home.
