virtual happy hour
Remote cocktail gathering
A virtual happy hour is social drinking conducted over video chat rather than in person, with participants joining from home or wherever they happen to be.
The format emerged as remote work and pandemic restrictions made traditional after-work gatherings impractical: The team has a virtual happy hour every Friday at five.
Like its in-person counterpart, the event centers on casual conversation and unwinding, though participants supply their own drinks.
