corn cribs
Ventilated grain bins
A corn crib is a ventilated structure used to store and dry ears of corn.
Traditional corn cribs have slatted walls that allow air to circulate, preventing the harvested corn from molding or rotting while it dries.
They were once a common feature on American farms, often elevated off the ground to discourage rodents.
The old corn crib behind the barn hasn't been used in decades.
