coordinate planes
Axes crossing perpendicularly
A coordinate plane is a flat two-dimensional surface defined by two perpendicular number lines—typically a horizontal x-axis and vertical y-axis—that intersect at an origin point.
Any location on the plane can be specified by an ordered pair of numbers: Plot the point at (3, -2) on the coordinate plane.
Also called the Cartesian plane, it's fundamental to graphing equations and visualizing mathematical relationships.
