cook pot

Stovetop cooking container

A cook pot is a container used for cooking food over heat, typically a deep vessel with a handle or handles.

The term appears in camping and outdoor contexts for portable cooking vessels, and in historical or anthropological discussions of basic cooking equipment: Archaeological sites yielded fragments of ancient cook pots.

Often simply called a pot.
