compensatory time
Earned time off
Compensatory time is time off given to employees instead of overtime pay.
Often shortened to comp time, it typically accrues at the same rate overtime would—an hour and a half of comp time for each hour of overtime worked.
She took Friday off using comp time from last month's crunch.
Common in government and nonprofit employment where budgets limit overtime payments.
