combat ribbons
Chest stripe awards
Combat ribbons are small rectangular fabric bars worn on military uniforms to represent medals and decorations.
Each ribbon's colors and patterns identify a specific award—for valor, campaign service, or other recognition.
They allow service members to display their honors compactly without wearing the full medals: His chest was covered with combat ribbons from three deployments.
