A column chart is a graph that displays data as vertical bars rising from a horizontal axis, with bar height representing quantity or value.
Column charts compare discrete categories—sales by region, votes by candidate, expenses by month.
The term is sometimes used interchangeably with bar chart, though bar chart more often refers to horizontal bars.
