color mode

RGB or CMYK

Color mode is a system for representing colors digitally, determining how an image stores and displays color information.

RGB (red, green, blue) is standard for screens; CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) is used for print.

Grayscale contains only shades of gray.

Converting between color modes can shift colors unpredictably: Make sure you're working in the right color mode before sending to the printer.
