cold sleep
Icy suspended animation
Cold sleep is a state of suspended animation, typically induced for long-distance space travel or medical preservation.
The body's functions slow to near-zero, allowing years or centuries to pass without aging.
The term appears almost exclusively in science fiction: The colonists entered cold sleep for the journey to Alpha Centauri.
Also called cryosleep.
